BREAKDOWN OF SHARES
WHAT IS SHARES?
SHakespearean Actors Requiring Employment Soon - is a performer company-led, company-wide networking program that brings industry professionals from all across the country to Ashland: artistic directors, casting directors, and others from theatre, television, and film.
Invited guests come to ONE of THREE offered weekends to see shows, meet one-on-one with SHARES participants, and end the weekend with an informal mixer.
NOTE: Guests are required to see at least 5 out of the 7 shows currently running, though the SHARES team always provides tickets for all shows and strongly encourages/advocates for guests to see everything. Usually, if a guest is unable to see every show, it’s due to travel and/or their own work obligations, but 95% of guests see everything. You still have the opportunity to meet them one-on-one, regardless of whether they see your show or not.
Meetings
SHARES meetings are 7 minutes long, and it is your time to do with. You can present material if you’d like, or you can just chat if you’d like. Additionally, there is no requirement to meet with all guests. The invited guests know that they are here to receive whatever you decide to share. These meetings are here to best benefit you, however you see fit.
A signup link will be emailed to you on the Saturday before, and signups are FROZEN 48 hours before the meetings begin:
Example: Signups for WEEKEND #1 will be sent out Saturday, June 13th, and will be FROZEN on Wednesday, June 17th. Meetings will begin on Friday, June 19th.
MIXER
An informal mixer closes out each SHARES weekend. The mixer is hosted at our home away from home, Martinos, from 4:30pm-6:30pm that Sunday. Food and Wine is offered (first come, first serve). While all SHARES guests go to the mixer, it is optional for SHARES participants.
NOTE: If you do not want to participate in the meetings and ONLY want to attend the end-of-week mixer, there will be a small fee of $25 EACH WEEKEND, so we can make sure the food/drink is covered for additional participants.
DUES
Dues are a one-time payment of $250. 100% of the money goes to bringing the guests to Ashland (travel stipend, SHARES mixer, transportation, etc.).
Financial Assistance: There is a scholarship program available. Please reach out to Ava Mingo to learn more. Another option is to join the SHARES team. Joining the SHARES team grants you free participation in all SHARES weekends. There is no additional compensation.
SHARES TEAM
Looking for 2-3 people to help Ava out with SHARES this year.
Working on the SHARES team is an additional 10 hours (give or take) each of the 3 weekends.
Main duties are, but not limited to:
Setting up/taking down rooms: We meet the evening before SHARES meetings to set up the rooms for the morning, and stay an hour after meetings close to breakdown each space (approx. 4 hours total)
Helping with signage: Creating and printing off room assignments, finalized signup sheets, and directions to each room (approx. 1 hour total)
Directing SHARES guests to appropriate locations: We meet all Guests/Volunteers at 9 am on the Friday of each SHARES weekend and walk them to HPRC and/or their meeting locations. (approx. 30 minutes total)
Setting up the Mixer: Setting up and taking down the Mixer on the Sunday of SHARES weekend (approx. 1 hour total)
There is no compensation, but you receive free participation in all SHARES weekends and do not have to pay dues. The SHARES team works together with everyone’s schedule to support and make our lives as easy as possible.
